QUESTION PAPER.1

UNIT –IV    FORCE AND LAWS OF MOTION

The tendency of a body in motion continues to remain in motion, moving with uniform velocity and a body at rest continues to remain at rest unless acted upon by a force. This tendency of the body is known as ‘inertia’ (i.e. resistance to change). In Newton’s First Law of Motion, this concept is clarified. The word inertia comes from the Latin word ‘iners’ that means idle or lazy.

4.1 The inertia of an object tends to cause the object           (  )

a) To increase its speed

b) To decrease its speed

c) To resist any change in its state of rest or motion

d) To decelerate due to friction

4.2 A passenger in a moving train tosses a coin which falls behind him. It means that motion of the train is (  )

a) Accelerated

b) Uniform

c) Retarded

d) Along circular tracks

4.3 A water tanker filled up to 2/3 of its height is moving with a uniform speed. On sudden application of the brake the water in the tank would ( )

a) Move backward

b) Move forward

c)  Be unaffected

d) Rise upwards

4.4 The physical quantity which makes it easier to accelerate a small car than a large car when equal amount of force is applied is measured in the unit of:

        a) m/s                b) Kg                c) Kg m/s              d) Kg m/s2

4.5 A Honda city car, a Maruti Alto car, a Tata Nano car and a Mahindra Scorpio car all are running at the same speed of 50m/s under identical conditions. If all these cars are hit from behind with the same force and they continue to move forward, the maximum acceleration will be produced in

       a) Honda city             b) Maruti Alto             c) Tata Nano             d) Mahindra Scorpio

PLEASE NOTE: Copy the questions in your CCT note book and answer for all (No need to draw the diagram). Scoring key will be made available to you soon with directions to self-checking. No need to send any image/pdf back to your MENTOR through Whats App group. Please follow the instructions from your MENTOR time to time.
